rodeo rules

  • Contestants must have a registration form on file for each event entered into.
  • Pre-registration is highly recommended as many events will reach capacity and close at the conclusion of pre registration.
  • Due to time constraints and the well-being of livestock, event capacity will be strictly enforced.
  • JRC reserves the right to refuse or deny a registration to anyone for any rodeo or event.
  • Children must be three years as of January 1 to participate in rodeo events.
  • Children must be registered by their legal name.
  • Only a parent or legal guardian may sign the entry and release forms.
  • All registrants must have signed a release form before participating in any event.
  • Birth certificate required for 12-16 year olds. no exceptions.
  • Coggins must be available for entry to rodeo and while on grounds.
  • Parent/guardian must certify the child entered is covered by medical insurance to complete.
  • No refunds will be given for anyone disqualified or asked to leave for failure to obey rules.

 

  • All pictures taken by photographer become the property of JRC can use images for advertisement, website or promotion.
  • Extreme weather could cause an event delay and will resume when officials agree it is safe to do so. The arena and stands are covered.
  • No dogs (or pets) allowed on rodeo grounds. which includes the camping area, stall barn, and parking lot.
  • Contestants and spectators are to adhere to all rules by the JRC and faculty.
  • Parents/guardians must be on premises, supervising their children at all times, and insure their children are following the rodeo rules.
  • JRC reserves the right to excuse contestants, family and other persons for conduct distracting to the enjoyment by others in attendance.
  • No hanging on the arena rails, stock pens, or fences not even in chutes area. do not block the view of other spectators in stands. repeated requests to comply can result in contestant being disqualified.
  • No horses will be allowed in the vendor areas or concession areas (mounted/unmounted)
  • Horses may not be left unattended unless secured to a trailer (not a fence, bleachers, etc.)
  • Judge decisions are final and may not be challenged, before during or after the rodeo.
  • Questions regarding scores are to be directed to the Awards Table personnel.  Computer score keeper and announcer are not to be disturbed for any reason!

     

    event participation rules

    • All participants must be able to perform the requirements of the event without adult assistance. no lead lines in any event including grand entry.
    • No double riders in the grand entry including parents who ride on the same horse with their child.
    • Horses, riders, and contestants may not be in the alley leading into the arena unless they have been called for an upcoming event.
    • Contestants are responsible for reporting to the arena at the appointed time for events they are entered in.

      Stalls/Camping Grounds

    • NO DOGS ALLOWED ON THE PIKE COUNTY CATTLEMEN’S ARENA AND GROUND WHICH INCLUDES THE CAMPING AREA, STALL BARN, AND PARKING LOT! 
    • Stalls and campsite rental will go on a first-come first-serve basis.  
    • Stalls, campsites, and gate tickets may be booked online during pre-registration.  Check-in time is 2:00-7:00 PM on Friday prior to rodeo day.  To access camping or stall rental click here.
    • No grilling or fires in Camp site area- camp site must be left clean.
    • Horses are not allowed in the camping area nor tied to a trailer, fence or in a portable pen.

     

    rodeo day information

    • All contestants will be charged a gate fee.
    • Final registration is 7:30 – 8:30 AM.  Any available slots that are available will go on a first-come, first-serve basis.  All pre-registered contestants must pick-up their back numbers during this time.

    • Rodeo begins promptly at 9:30 am.

    • Pee Wee contestants who are age eligible who are entered in the arena race will compete a the beginning of the Junior Division Arena Race.

      All Around Awards

    • Junor and Senior Division contestants who have entered in events that are All Around who receive the highest points will be presented the All Around Cowboy/Cowgirl Award.
    • Arm bands will be given to rough stock contestants. no arm band, no participation.
    • A minimum of 2 points is awarded for participation regardless of the outcome (Junior/Senior Division) except for withdrawal or disqualification.
    • A broken pattern, broken barrier, or exceeded time allotment will result in a score of zero.  
    • A scratch from an event will result in zero points for that event.
